Martin Scorsese. Barack Obama. Elvis Presley. What do they all have in common? They have all – at one point in their lives – been a "Shabbos Goy". In this short documentary, we explore the absurdity and comfort of the job through one of its most charming workers, a man called Terry Neville
Despite not being Jewish himself, Terry Neville has worked and lived in a synagogue for 10 years. He is a caretaker and protector: he helps with things that, because of religious restrictions, the members cannot do. Terry never predicted he would be a "Shabbos Goy" – but now, he wouldn't have it any other way.
